- Poppies in Reception
This week, we spent time with our buddies creating poppies for our Remembrance liturgy. We used fingerprinting and collage to make each poppy unique and special. As we worked, we talked about why people wear poppies and remembered those who are important to us. We also learned about the armed services and how they help to protect our land, sea, and air. It was a thoughtful way to honour those who have served and to reflect on the importance of peace.
- Remembrance Day
As part of our Celebration of the Word , the whole school came together to observe a two-minute silence. Our pupils showed great respect and understanding as we reflected together on the importance of peace, gratitude, and remembrance. We are very proud of how thoughtful and reverent the children were during this special moment.
- Fireworks in Nursery
This week, our nursery children have been busy learning all about fireworks, bonfires, and keeping safe during Bonfire Night celebrations. It’s been a week full of colour, sparkle, and excitement with lots of fun learning opportunities along the way! We spent time talking about firework and bonfire safety. The children discussed how fireworks can be beautiful but also very loud, and why it’s important to stay a safe distance away. They had great fun using their bodies and voices to recreate the noises and movements of fireworks! We zoomed, whooshed, fizzed, and popped around the room. We discussed using real sparklers safely and then made some tasty edible sparklers. The children created their own firework paintings and built fireworks display and bonfires in the small world area. It was lovely to see their enthusiasm and hear them share their own experiences of watching fireworks with family.
- 🌟📚 Fairytales Have Sprouted in Year 2! 📚🌟
This week, Year 2 have begun a magical new journey in English — we’re diving into the world of fairytales, starting with Jack and the Beanstalk ! The children have loved exploring the story’s characters, setting, and surprises, and we’ve already had some brilliant discussions about giants, golden eggs, and brave choices. We’ve been working on describing the characters and thinking carefully about their actions — especially Jack! Is he brave or reckless? Kind or selfish? Good or bad? The children have shared some fantastic ideas and are learning to explain their opinions with evidence from the story. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be looking at different versions of the tale and comparing how characters, settings, and endings can change. This will help us think about what makes a fairytale feel magical — and how we might write our own! To help bring our learning to life, we’re encouraging families to share fairytales at home. Whether it’s reading a classic bedtime story, retelling a favourite tale, or chatting about magical adventures — every moment helps spark imagination and storytelling skills. Thank you for supporting our storytelling adventure — let the magic continue!

- Drama in Year 1
This week, Year 1 have been taking part in exciting drama lessons inspired by our class text, The Three Billy Goats Gruff . We had lots of fun stepping into character — some of us became the billy goats, while others took on the role of the grumpy troll! Everyone worked really hard to bring the story to life, using actions, voices, and expressions to show how the characters might feel. We finished by performing our short scenes in front of our classmates and loved watching everyone’s fantastic performances.
- Flipbook Animation Lesson in Computing
Today, Year 3 explored the idea of whether a picture can move. They learned how simple animation works by changing a drawing little by little. Then, they created their own flipbook (flick book) animations using sticky notes to make their pictures appear to move. They had great fun and can’t wait to start creating animations on the iPads next!
- English Café - Year 5
Year 5 would like to thank parents and carers for coming to their English caf é . Mrs Laverick welcomed parents in the hall and discussed English in Year 5. She then took them to the classroom, where she taught the children four new words that they had picked from Daedalus and Icarus. These words were: ferociously, obnoxious, distraught and perilously. Children then wrote an antonym, a synonym, drew a picture and wrote a sentence for these words. We loved having you all in and would like to thank you for all your support.
- Forest School in Year 4
Our Year 4 class had their very first visit to Forest School this week, and it was an exciting adventure from start to finish. The children loved getting outside and exploring nature, using their senses to discover the world around them. They were especially amazed by the huge variety of trees they found. The class worked together, shared their discoveries, and showed great curiosity and enthusiasm throughout the session. It was a wonderful start to their Forest School journey, and they can’t wait to return and learn even more about the natural world!
- RE Ambassadors
We are pleased to have some new volunteers in Year 6 for the role of RE Ambassadors. This group will do an important job every week, supporting Mrs Yeoman in preparing and leading our whole-school Celebration of the Word. Tasks include greeting our classes, reading and setting up the prayer space, as well as helping with IT. We are very proud of our RE Ambassadors for giving up their break time on a Monday to help with this special job. This week, we are celebrating the feast of All Saints, so we worked together to find suitable books, posters and statues to add to our prayer space linked to this important time in our Church calendar.
- The Conaty Awards
At the end of last half term. Mrs Yeoman attended the Conaty Awards at the Lighthouse Project, where she enjoyed seeing the hard work and talents of so many people being recognised and celebrated, in memory of our late Parish Priest, Father Michael Conaty . It was particularly pleasing to see one of our Year 6 pupils, Rosalie, doing brilliantly in her dance performance. We look forward to taking part in these wonderful celebrations again in the future.
