ST ALBAN

ST ALBAN | OUR PATRON SAINT

St Alban is honoured as the first Christian martyr of Britain. Living in the Roman town of Verulamium (modern-day St Albans) during the 3rd century, Alban showed great courage and compassion when he sheltered a persecuted Christian priest. Moved by the priest’s faith, Alban embraced Christianity himself and, when soldiers came to arrest the priest, Alban chose to take his place. He was later executed for his beliefs, remaining steadfast in his faith to the very end.

Saint Alban is remembered for his bravery, selflessness and willingness to stand up for what is right, even when it came at great personal cost. These values of courage, kindness and faith continue to inspire our school community today, encouraging pupils to act with compassion, integrity and respect for others in their daily lives.
