Navigating Non-Fiction Books

This week in Reading Skills, we have been focusing on how to use a contents page. We have been learning how a contents page helps readers quickly find information in non-fiction texts.

We explored how page numbers and headings are organised and practised locating different sections in a variety of books. We discussed why contents pages are useful and how they help us become more confident and independent readers when researching information.

Throughout the week, we have enjoyed using non-fiction books to search for facts and answer questions using the contents page to guide us.
