Hello, I’m Mrs Yeoman, and it is a real pleasure to introduce myself as the Headteacher of St Alban’s Catholic Primary School.

I feel incredibly lucky to be part of such a happy, welcoming and ambitious school. At St Alban’s, our Catholic mission is at the heart of everything we do. We are proud to celebrate each individual for all that they are and to be a caring community, enjoying and excelling in the presence of God.

We want every child to feel valued, loved and celebrated for who they are, while helping them to grow in confidence, discover their talents and achieve their very best. We believe that every child is unique and has something special to offer, and we want them to know that they are an important part of our school family.

We are very fortunate to have such a dedicated and caring team of staff who know our children so well. They work incredibly hard to make sure that every child has the opportunity to thrive, both in the classroom and beyond. We are committed to creating an environment where children feel happy, safe, supported and excited to come to school each day.

There is always lots happening at St Alban’s! Through our OPAL Play approach, lunchtimes are full of fun, creativity and opportunities for children to play, explore and spend time with their friends. Our Forest School provision also gives children the chance to learn outdoors, develop new skills and enjoy the wonderful benefits of being in nature.

We are passionate about giving our children opportunities to try new things and discover what they enjoy. Our enrichment clubs include swimming, football, cooking and chess club, and our children also take part in Lego League, where they develop their creativity, teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills.

We are also incredibly proud of our work in the arts. Our children have had some wonderful opportunities to work with the Royal Shakespeare Company and perform at Northern Stage. Experiences like these are so important in helping children to build confidence, express themselves and develop a real sense of pride and achievement.

Our Catholic faith is woven through all aspects of school life. We encourage our children to be kind, compassionate and respectful, to look out for one another and to understand the importance of serving others. We want them to grow not only academically, but also spiritually and personally, developing the values and qualities that will help them throughout their lives.

Most importantly, we want St Alban’s to be a place where children are happy, feel safe and valued, and are excited to come to school each day. We want every child to know that they are special, that they have something unique to offer and that they can achieve great things.

As Headteacher, I feel very privileged to be part of our St Alban’s family, and I look forward to working closely with our children, families and wider school community. Together, we can give our children wonderful experiences, create happy memories and help them develop a lifelong love of learning.

By the time your child is ready to move on to the next phase of education we will have, together, encouraged them to have developed a sense of personal value and achievement, and a self-confidence that will carry on to adult life. We will do this through completing together ’50 things to do before leaving St Alban’s’ which goes beyond the formal National Curriculum.

As a school we promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.

We are very proud of our school, our pupils and their success. We are committed to the highest standards of teaching and learning – achieved through a combination of challenge, support, encouragement and praise – to ensure that all our children fulfil their potential enjoying and excelling in the presence of God.
