Aspirational Campaign
St. Albans Launches Inspirational Whole-School Campaign Inspired by The Dot
St. Albans has launched a whole-school campaign inspired by Peter H. Reynolds’ much-loved book The Dot. In the story, Vashti learns to believe in herself after her teacher encourages her to “make a mark and see where it takes you”—a message that has become the foundation of our project.
To celebrate the idea that everyone can make their mark, every pupil and member of staff created their own unique piece of artwork. Each piece has been framed and displayed in a dedicated gallery space within school, showcasing creativity, courage, and growing self-belief.
Our pupils have already embraced the message:
- “I didn’t think I was good at drawing, but now I feel like an artist.” – Year 2
- “My dot started small, but then I kept adding to it. It made me feel brave.” – Year 4
- “Seeing my picture on the wall makes me feel proud every morning.” – Year 1
We also created an aspirational video capturing our journey, which has become our most-liked post on Facebook and has been warmly received by families and the wider community.
At St. Albans, we are committed to helping every child believe in what they can do and what they can become.
