The arrival of the snow was perfect for the start of our learning about Winter.

Our children looked wonderfully festive in their Christmas jumpers today! It was lovely to see so many bright colours, fun patterns, and big smiles around the school. Thank you to everyone who took part and helped spread a little extra festive cheer! 🎅🧦❄️

We are incredibly proud of the hard work our Nursery and Reception children have put into this year’s Nativity performance. They learned their lines beautifully and sang their songs with such enthusiasm and confidence. Well done to all of the children!

Nursery has had a great time doing activities based on the story ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’. This included experiencing going through the long wavy grass, the deep cold river, the thick oozy, the big dark forest, the swirling whirling snowstorm and ending in the narrow gloomy cave to find the bear before running all the way back through everything to hide.

We had lots of fun inviting our parents in to join us for a lesson this week.

This week Nursery have been focusing on the book ‘Don’t Wake up the Bear’. They have enjoyed retelling the story in the bear cave, hunting for bears and thinking about the features of bears in their drawings, painting and loose parts play. They have been thinking about why some animals hibernate in the winter.

Over the last few weeks, Nursery has had great fun learning about Autumn. We have focused on animals like squirrels, hedgehogs and owls. We read ‘The Squirrels who Squabbled’, The Very Helpful Hedgehog’ and ‘Owl Babies’. We are looking forward to learning all about bears next week.

It has been a very busy week in Nursery. Nursery wore odd socks for anti-bullying week. They have been learning about how being kind can make the person you are kind to feel happy but how it also makes you feel really happy too. We talked about why we wear poppies and discussed who keeps us safe. Then we used apples to print poppy pictures. It has also been Children in Need Day – so the children came dressed in their pyjamas. We decorated some biscuits with Pudsey Bear spots.

This week, our nursery children have been busy learning all about fireworks, bonfires, and keeping safe during Bonfire Night celebrations. It’s been a week full of colour, sparkle, and excitement with lots of fun learning opportunities along the way! We spent time talking about firework and bonfire safety. The children in Nursery have had a Halloween themed week. They investigated the textures, colours, and smells of real pumpkins, scooping out seeds, comparing sizes, and even helping with gentle carving. The children have been practicing their mark making on the spooky wall and used crayons to draw pumpkins. They have enjoyed making skeletons using art straws. This week in Nursery, we’ve been on a sensory adventure as we explored our five senses. We read Lucy’s Picture , and just like Lucy, the children made their own collages using a variety of materials, thinking carefully about how things feel and look. Using magnifying glasses, we closely examined natural objects like leaves, stones, and pinecones. The children enjoyed describing the textures they felt, rough, smooth, bumpy, and soft!
