In computing this week, Year 5 children have been learning how to program Microbits. They were excited to se their names in moving lights.

This week, Year 5 children have been creating aspirational works of art based on the book  The Dot.

Year 5 enjoyed watching Home Alone and having hot chocolate in their pyjamas this afternoon for their purple treat.

This week, Year 5 children have enjoyed creating the Christmas stockings they designed in Design and Technology. They are excited to take these home in time for Christmas.

Our Year 5 and 6 pupils delighted us all with a beautiful carol performance that truly captured the spirit of the season. Well done, Year 5 and 6—you brought Christmas cheer to us all!

Our children looked wonderfully festive in their Christmas jumpers today! It was lovely to see so many bright colours, fun patterns, and big smiles around the school. Thank you to everyone who took part and helped spread a little extra festive cheer! 🎅🧦❄️

Year 5 had a wonderful time taking part in a multi-school carol service at the beautiful St Mary's Cathedral this week.

After a whole-school assembly, in which all children got to dance to African music, Year 5 took part in an anti-racism workshop in their class. They played games, listened to music and discussed equality.

Year 5 have enjoyed visiting the school library and selecting a book to take home to read for pleasure.

Year 5 have had a great time playing basketball with the Newcastle Eagles. As well as shooting hoops and learning new techniques, they learned about health and fitness. Some of the children even won prizes. What a fantastic afternoon!

Year 5 would like to thank parents and carers for coming to their English caf é . Mrs Laverick welcomed parents in the hall and discussed English in Year 5. She then took them to the classroom, where she taught the children four new words that they had picked from Daedalus and Icarus. These words were: ferociously, obnoxious, distraught and perilously. Years 5 and 6 have had an exciting week. They began the week by toasting marshmallows, which was a great way to bring our Forest School sessions to an end. We have all thoroughly enjoyed our outdoor learning this half term.  This was followed by a wonderful visit to Beamish on Wednesday, where we were able to enjoy some interactive learning in history.
