The children in year 4 have been exploring complementary colours and how artists use them to create contrast and make their work stand out. The pupils began by learning what complementary colours are and how they sit opposite each other on the colour wheel. By using these colours, the children were able to add depth, balance and visual impact to their still life artwork.

This week year 4 have been investigating how well sound travels through different mediums. We tested how well we could hear different sounds though, a solid, a liquid and a gas.

This week, Year 4 mixed paint to create secondary colours. We explored complementary colours and saw how they make artwork stand out.

Year 4 have had a brilliant time exploring in Forest School this half term. They ended their sessions with an exciting lesson on building fires and fire safety. However, the highlight of the afternoon was definitely the toasted marshmallows at the end!

Our Year 3 and 4 pupils delivered a fantastic performance in their festive show. From start to finish, they brought energy, confidence, and plenty of Christmas cheer to the stage. A huge well done to all the children—you were brilliant!

This week the children have created a dramatic performance linked to the story of the Lambton Worm, bringing the legendary tale to life with plenty of energy and imagination. Year 4 have enjoyed their first full ukulele music lesson of the half term with Mr. Rudkin.

Yesterday, we started the 'Your Into University Journey' with a careers in action workshop.  We learned about the different skills needed for some of the careers we discussed, then used some of these to take on the role of museum curators, product designers and civil engineers.

Professor Steve Bunce led us in an amazing 'LEGO Essentials Space' lesson, last week. We all started from the same point but then ended up with our own unique space buggies.  We were then able to program them so to that they could travel across the room!

Our Year 4 class had their very first visit to Forest School this week, and it was an exciting adventure from start to finish. The children loved getting outside and exploring nature, using their senses to discover the world around them. They were especially amazed by the huge variety of trees they found. Pat the Hat came to school today to share some wonderful stories. The children were captivated by his exciting stories and lively performances. They joined in with actions, laughter, and questions, making it a magical storytelling experience!

To celebrate National Poetry Day and Black History Month, we have enjoyed listening to, and reading, poetry by poet Benjamin Zephaniah.
